The University of Winchester has a long history having been established in 1840, and it combines this heritage with innovative and forward-looking teaching and learning. Research and knowledge exchange are also key, underpinning all our teaching. The original Anglican Foundation established a strong commitment to public service which persists today in a value driven institution which lives up to its mission: “to educate, to advance knowledge and to serve the public good.”
There are over 5,800 students studying courses ranging from Foundation degrees, Bachelor Honours degrees to professional development, postgraduate Masters and Research degrees. Programmes of study span the arts, humanities, social sciences, business, education and health. Winchester Business School offers a dynamic and growing portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses designed to meet the demands of business and individuals seeking to begin and develop their business careers.
We are committed to working with the local community, providing support and facilities to organisations and individuals in business, the public sector and community and voluntary organisations. We offer consultancy in several areas including archaeology, sports, the creative industries & education. Opportunities for career development span Foundation degrees, CIM courses, Postgraduate degrees and CPD courses. We are part of Graduate Jobs South, an online employment network aimed at linking graduates and students with employers in the region (www.graduatejobsouth.co.uk), and as a venue for conferences and events, our commitment to customer service and quality coupled with an extensive range of facilities ensures the University’s reputation in Winchester and indeed Hampshire is second to none.
Trish Kernan comments:
“The University is delighted to sponsor the Entrepreneur of the Year award again this year. Our commitment remains strong as demonstrated by the support given both to the University’s graduates, students and staff through our Business Start Up Scheme and to entrepreneurial individuals and organisations in the wider community through courses run by our Business School and networks like Wired Wessex, Café Culture and eNetwork, run in collaboration with local partners”.
